Internet access

smooth operation of the network relies upon the proper conduct of the
end users who must adhere to strict guidelines established by the
internet. These guidelines are provided so that you are aware of your
child's responsibilities in using the network.
Acceptable Use
This must be in support of education and research consistent with the
educational objectives of the Sebastopol Union School District. Use of
other organizations' network or computing resources must comply with
the rules appropriate for that network and the district.

regulation is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:
copyrighted material, threatening, harassing, or obscene material,
commercial activities, product advertising, political action or
reception of pornographic material is expressly prohibited and will
result in the cancellation of those privileges.
Privileges
The use of the Internet is a privilege, and
unacceptable use will result in a cancellation of those privileges. In
addition, each site will use filtering services to limit students
access to the areas of the internet most appropriate for student
research. Brook Haven uses the Bess Filtering System as recommended by
the Sonoma County Office of Education. Run by N2H2 Inc. (see address
below), Bess uses the site Searchopolis as a web portal promoting
safety, productivity, privacy and positive web experience. Used by over
11,000 schools internationally, Bess is overseen by a staff of 50 and
maintained and updated daily. This is one measure that will help
protect your child from unsafe internet use.
