A Message from the Principal, Laurie Whiteside
Welcome to the Park Side School Website. We are very excited to have this new feature available to our families and anyone else that might be interested in finding out about what's going on in our schools. The development of this website, like everything else that makes our schools great, is possible through the collective efforts of several dedicated individuals. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank them all.
Park Side School has been granted its candidacy as an International Baccalaureate (IB) School by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). As a Kindergarten through Fifth Grade school, we offer the Primary Years Program (PYP), an inquiry based instructional program that develops critical and higher-order thinking skills. As an IB Candidate School we are part of a world-wide network of providing a world class education to its students. The aim of the PYP is to engender "international-mindedness" in its students so that they leave here with an understanding of the global impact their actions and values can and do have on the planet we all share. To learn more about IB, please visit the website at www.ibo.org.
In addition to the IB Program, Park Side provides a social/emotional curriculum through Tool Box and we incorporate the Peaceful Playground into our outdoor recess and recreation time. The school uses the B.E.S.T. (Building Effective Schools Together) as its basis for developing positive behavioral values where all students encouraged to be safe, responsible and respectful.
We would love to have you come visit anytime. Our students and teachers welcome you. Please stop by the office during regular school hours, or, if there is something in particular you would like to see, give us a call at 707-829-7400.
